Common questions
What counts as an "active group"?
A group is active from the moment you form it until you archive the assignment. The 3-group free limit applies to groups that exist concurrently — once you archive a project, those groups no longer count.
What happens when I hit 3 groups on the Free plan?
You can keep using your existing 3 groups forever. To create a 4th group, archive an old one or upgrade to Instructor Pro for unlimited groups.
Is the 3-group limit per course or total?
It is total across your account. Most instructors piloting GroupWorks use it for one project in one course, which fits comfortably in the Free tier.
Do students need to pay anything?
No. GroupWorks is instructor-side software. Students never see a paywall — they just get an invite link.
Can I cancel Pro at any time?
Yes. Cancel from your Billing page and you keep Pro access through the end of the period. After that you revert to Free — your data stays, but you can only keep 3 groups active.
What LMS integrations are available?
Pro supports Canvas via OAuth roster import and LTI 1.3. Blackboard and Moodle are on the roadmap.
How does department / institution pricing work?
